Regenerative Living
Regenerative Living is applied reciprocity.
The state motto of Hawai'i, which says "Ua mau ka ea o'ka aina, i ka pono"; that is, "The life of the land is preserved in goodness". It is implicit that, when the goodness/creativity of the people fails, the ecological state of the land will suffer. It is also implicit that when the ecological state of the land is disturbed, the health and happiness of the people will be affected (for more on why this so, reference "Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder" by Richard Louv).
It is possible to rapidly heal the land and ourselves. Regenerative Living is a mutually enhancing relationship between the people and the earth. Inspired by nature, people create and maintain healthy and abundant livelihoods that enhance fertility and biodiversity on the planet. Humans are a positive healing presence on Earth, creating more abundance on the planet than would be possible without them.
We know that people both want to live these values AND learn by doing, so we are commited to facilitating, demonstrating and otherwise inspiring regenerative community design based on principles and practices of Permaculture, cultural mentoring and nature connection. Through these important demonstration practices, we restore goodness to the people and balance to the land.
For these practices to take root in an enduring way they must be embodied by culture at all levels. Hence, our emphasis on 8 Shields Cultural Mentoring as part of our process of Regenerative Community Design.
It is currently our goal to find the proper Land Base and Facilities to demonstrate for the world the relationship between Holistic Tracking, Cultural Mentoring, Regenerative Design, the Peacemaking Principles and the diverse currents of social, economic and political liberation alive in culture today.
Please visit our partner organizations' websites, the Regenerative Design Institute's PINC site, also Commonweal Gardens, and Blue House Farm which currently manages three such demonstration sites where we offer programming as a collaboration. Due to changing circumstances in the status of another site in San Gregorio, California, our San Mateo County team is searching for another site to develop a long-term relationship in regenerative living.
